How Health Care Sharing Works
Simple, transparent, and built on community—here’s how it’s different from traditional insurance.
A Different Approach to Healthcare
What Is Healthcare Sharing?
Healthcare sharing is a community-based alternative where members contribute monthly into a shared pool. When someone has an eligible medical need, the community helps cover their costs—simple, straightforward, and people-centered.
Unlike traditional insurance focused on profits, this model removes corporate middlemen and bureaucracy. Your contributions go directly toward helping real people with real medical needs, creating more affordable and transparent healthcare coverage for everyone involved.

Affordable
No profit-driven insurance companies taking a cut from your monthly contributions.
Freedom
Choose any doctor, specialist, or hospital you trust without network restrictions.
Transparent
Clear pricing with no hidden fees, confusing fine print, or surprise bills.
Flexible
Enroll year-round without waiting for open enrollment periods or special exceptions.
The Mechanics Made Simple
How Healthcare Sharing Actually Works
Every member chooses an Annual Primary Responsibility Amount (PRA)—similar to a deductible. This is what your household pays each year before the community begins sharing additional eligible medical expenses.
After your annual PRA is met, eligible medical bills are shared at 90% by the community. You’re responsible for just 10% (called your co-share), up to a maximum of $5,000 per household annually.
Choose Your Annual PRA
Select from four PRA options to fit your budget. Higher PRA means lower monthly costs; lower PRA means higher monthly costs but less out-of-pocket upfront.
Visit Any Doctor You Trust
Pay a small co-pay at your appointment ($50 office visit, $75 specialist, $150 ER). Your provider bills directly—you don’t have to deal with paperwork or reimbursements.
Bills Are Reviewed for Fairness
Medical bills are reviewed for eligibility and repriced to fair market value. This protects you from inflated charges and ensures you’re only responsible for reasonable costs.
Community Shares Your Costs
Once your annual PRA is met, the community shares 90% of eligible expenses. Providers are typically paid within 15 days, faster than most insurance companies.
Annual Household Cap Protection
Your maximum out-of-pocket each year is your PRA plus $5,000 in co-share—total household protection. After that, eligible expenses are shared at 100% by the community.
Wellness Rewards Lower Your PRA
Invest in your health and get rewarded for it. Earn up to $150 monthly credit toward your annual PRA by submitting receipts for gym memberships, supplements, and more.
How Do Doctor Office Visits Work?
Bring your member ID card to any doctor, specialist, or hospital you choose—there are no network restrictions. Pay a small co-pay at check-in: $50 for office visits, $75 for specialists or urgent care, and $150 for ER or inpatient hospitalizations. Your provider bills directly, and you don’t have to handle paperwork or wait for reimbursements.
When Does My Coverage Start?
You can enroll any time of year—no waiting for open enrollment periods. If you enroll today, your coverage typically starts on the first day of the next month. For example, enroll in February and you’re covered starting March 1st. You can also choose to delay your start date if you want to finish out current coverage.
What About Pre-Existing Conditions?
Once you become a member, new medical needs that meet the guidelines can be considered for sharing after your annual PRA has been paid. A pre-existing condition is any health issue where you had signs, symptoms, testing, treatment, diagnosis, or medication use in the 36 months before joining—these are not eligible for sharing. However, thoughtful exceptions exist for certain conditions like heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
How Do Prescriptions Work?
Members get access to wholesale pricing at over 65,000 pharmacies nationwide. Generic medications under $10 cost you $0. Brand-name prescriptions receive significant discounts with manufacturer coupons applied automatically when available. Prescription costs may count toward your annual PRA and can be eligible for sharing after your PRA is met, with some limitations.
Can I See Any Doctor I Choose?
Yes! There are no network restrictions, no need for referrals, and no limitations on which providers you can see. You have complete freedom to choose the doctors, specialists, and hospitals you trust, anywhere in the country. You make the decisions about your care, not an insurance company.
Who Is Eligible for This Coverage?
This coverage is available to individuals, families, and small businesses with up to 50 employees. You must be at least 18 years old to apply. Seniors age 65 and older with Medicare Parts A and B can enroll through a dedicated Senior Program designed to complement Medicare coverage. To join, you’ll need to agree to the community guidelines and shared beliefs, which are rooted in caring for your neighbor and living a healthy lifestyle.
What States Is This Available In?
Coverage is available in 48 states. The program is not currently available in Rhode Island or Washington state. New Jersey has specific requirements that may involve additional considerations—contact me to discuss your specific situation if you’re located in New Jersey.
What Medical Expenses Are Eligible?
Eligible expenses include doctor visits, hospital stays, surgeries, emergency care, lab work, imaging, physical therapy, and many other medical needs. Annual wellness visits and up to $150 in routine labs are shared at 100% by the community. Certain expenses like pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures, and some routine care may not be eligible. Full guidelines are available for review.
Is There a Maximum Annual Limit?
Yes, there’s an annual sharing cap of $500,000 per member per membership year. However, there is no lifetime limit on sharing—your coverage continues year after year as long as you remain a member in good standing.
